Heavy Hearted: A Poem
She sits there heavy hearted, her burdens weigh her down
alone she holds her shame
time has made her lame
She keeps her secrets hidden, too ugly to expose
to tell reveals too much
her wounds too fresh to touch
She buried deep her conscience, it hurt too much to hear
now it is a choice
she tries to find the voice
She wants to see her reflection, one that shows no shame
to hold her head up high
to look others in the eye
She struggles with herself, and the self from yesterday
Don’t repeat the past
make changes that will last
